My laptop has seen better days. MUCH better days. When I was traveling with Efficio’s IT President for a presentation recently, he was horrified when I dragged out my everyday work, leisure and travel companion, which has served me so well. “You may NOT take that out of your bag in front of them!” he commanded. I sheepishly agreed, but it was a necessity. It has MY wallpaper on it, MY favorites, MY work shortcuts, MY silly game, MY training and management documents and correspondence history– you get the idea. It also has a bunch of stuff that somehow crept on there during my last five plus years as I have traveled, virtually and literally, around the country helping those in media sales use software to make more money.

We made it! It is Thanksgiving week! It is a time when our attention turns from prospecting, getting contracts approved, and goal setting; and instead turns to figuring out how we can slip away after lunch on Wednesday so to travel over the river and to the woods to grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving Eve dinner. This will be followed by you hosting the other family on Thanksgiving Thursday. Friday, work may cross your mind for a brief second as you are hoping the talent showed up to the early morning remote for your client, but your attention is back on your friends and family as you brave the crowds to get that Star Wars or Paw Patrol toy for a few dollars off. Then the weekend is filled with more family and friends and will fly by all-too-fast. Facebook will be filled with warm wishes for friends, real and virtual, and family holiday traditions will be the focus.

If you are a career sales professional, you have heard this old adage before, so you can relate to the concept of time as a spendable and irretrievable currency. Time not spent efficiently and effectively selling and engaging clients costs you money. Not knowing where to direct and focus the currency of the time you do have will affect your ability to build a successful track.

It’s our industry’s trade show time again, and for many of you, you might be the sole representative from your stations or even your group. You may be on a mission to find a new vendor. You may be having a meeting of the minds with others in your group. You may be going to learn about new programs or ways of making money. Whatever your reason, your success can boil down to a couple of key tips:
Mobile Changes

When I was a kid, cartoon detective Dick Tracy had a watch that did more than told them time. It was a two way transmitter of ever-increasing levels of information! Years later, I checked out the bag phone for remotes so we were not dependent on a land-line; and when I got the phone installed in my car, the relative immediacy of talking to clients while not tethered at the station was so technologically advanced!

AT&T announces that all Android phones are required to support FM radio in 2016. Most smartphones have an FM radio that is deactivated by choice of the handset maker. AT&T will change how we listen to music on our mobile devices by turning on the FM chips in new and existing Android phones.
